House collapses in Azerbaijanâ€™s Lerik Region

Lerik. Ageddin Babayev â€“ APA. A part of one-storey, two-room house owned by Lerik Region resident Shahiyev Khanoghlan Khanbala collapsed at night. The suffererâ€™s brother Shahveled Shahiyev told APAâ€™s south bureau that all six members of the family were at home, but fortunately none of them was injured. They were temporarily removed to the house of their neighbor. Shahiyev said deep crack appeared on the walls of his brotherâ€™s house after the recent quake. They informed the local executive bodies about it, but nothing was done to eliminate the problem.
â€œMy brotherâ€™s wife has been bedfast for long years. The family had no money to repair the houseâ€, he said.
Deputy Head of Lerik Region Executive Power, Chief of the regionâ€™s Commission for Emergency Situations told APAâ€™s local bureau that Shahiyevâ€™s house had become unsafe, because the soil layer collapsed.
â€œWe have reviewed the house and drawn up a report. The Ministry of Emergency Situations has been informed about the case. We will try to build a new house for Khanoghlan Shahiyevâ€™s familyâ€, he said.
