President of Azerbaijan: â€œDecision on TAP is important strategic decision and the project was selected in fair competitionâ€

Baku. Victoria Dementieva - APA. "Energy cooperation will open a new page in our relations and plays a very important role not only for our bilateral relations but also with EU relations. Our energy projects will provide energy security for Europe and at the same time will open for us new markets".

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev stated at the press conference with prime-minister of Italia today, APA reports.

"Azerbaijan has huge oil and gas reserves, we have already diversified supply roots, but of course we are looking for the big markets for long term cooperation.

Decision on TAP is important strategic decision and we are very glad that the project was selected in fair competition and was the most attractive for business" I. Aliyev stated.

Commenting the bilateral relation president of Azerbaijan stated that bilateral relations develop succesfully." We actively cooperate in international organisations. Italia is our main trade partner, mainly because of oil supplies. We would like to see more Italian companies in Azerbaijan".

During the meeting with Italian prime minister president of Azerbaijan also informed the prime minister on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict resolution.

"I informed the prime minister on the occupation of Azerbaijani land by Armenia forces. As soon as resolution of the conflict based on international law norms of territorial integrity of Azerbaijan will of course create better situation in the region".

E. Letta also highly estimated the bilateral relations between the countries, he mentioned that he is the first ever prime minister of Italia visiting Azerbaijan and invited president of Azerbaijan to visit Italy in 2014.
