Baku. Shamil Alibeyli – APA. “Ukraine will be very active and participate in the solution of "frozen conflicts" during the OSCE chairmanship,” OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Leonid Kozhara told Interfax-UA, APA reports. He said that looking at the map one can see that the country is surrounded by such conflicts: “Ukraine has 1,200-kilometer border with Moldova. There are "frozen conflicts" in all three countries of the South Caucasus in the east. I think we have activated enough the settlement of frozen conflicts, especially Transnistrian conflict.”
Kozhara also emphasized that revolutionary changes shouldn’t be expected in the settlement of frozen conflicts: “These conflicts have not been resolved for many years, therefore are called “frozen”. We should take steps very carefully and gradually in this regard. However, the main thing is that there is a positive dynamics in the negotiation process.”
OSCE Chairperson-in-Office said the situation in the conflicts in the South Caucasus is quite complicated.
"The conflicts here have deep historical, cultural roots. But Ukraine chairing OSCE is actively working with Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan. I have paid visits to these countries and according to the assessments, Ukraine's chairmanship is successful," he said.
