Minister Elmar Mammadyarov receives EU Special Representative for South Caucasus Philippe Lefort

Lefort informed about his recent visit to the region, as well as the meetings he held with the officials. The special representative said that the EU is interested in regional development, maintenance of stability and attaches importance to the development of bilateral cooperation with Azerbaijan.

Foreign Minister Mammadyarov informed about the current state of the negotiations on Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict, recent meetings he held and underlined Azerbaijan’s right position on the prospects of fair settlement of this conflict. The Minister said that to move the settlement of the conflict from dead point, first of all Armenia must withdraw its armed forces from Azerbaijan’s occupied territories.

The contributions that the settlement of the conflict can make to the development of the region were also discussed at the meeting.
