The Council discussed preparations for the 3rd Eastern Partnership Summit to be held in Vilnius on November 28-29, the EU’s southern neighborhood, the Middle East peace process, preparations for the Geneva II peace conference, the political situation in Africa’s Great Lakes Region, Somalia and Mali.
According to Linas LinkeviÄius, Foreign Minister of Lithuania chairing the EU, all ministers noted that they are ready to make the Vilnius summit successful. Ukrainian Foreign Minister, OSCE Chairman-in-Office Leonid Kozhara said they discussed possible results of the upcoming summit and the steps to be taken for making the event successful. Kozhara says the 3rd summit must be an important stage in the European integration, transformation and modernization of the members of Eastern Partnership program.
Belarusian Foreign Minister attended this event for the first time after some senior officials of Belarus were banned from visiting Europe in 2010.
