Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has revealed the main reason why the Cyprus issue remains unresolved to this day, APA’s Türkiye bureau reports.
Erdoğan stated that the Greek Cypriot side’s refusal to recognize the equal international status of the Turkish Cypriots has led to the continuation of a problematic situation on the island.
“The root cause of the Cyprus issue remaining unresolved lies in the Greek Cypriot side’s rejection of the Turkish Cypriots’ equal international status,” Erdoğan emphasized.
The President added that Türkiye continues to maintain its position that a solution allowing the two communities on the island to live side by side in peace, prosperity, and security is possible.
