The U.S. administration's plan for a peaceful resolution to the conflict in Ukraine contains between 26 and 28 points, depending on the version of the document, said U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, APA reports.

"We came here [to Geneva] with one goal, which was to take 28 points or 26 points, depending on the version [of the document], <...> and try to reduce the number of unresolved issues," he said.

According to Rubio, this goal was "significantly" achieved during Sunday's talks between American and Ukrainian officials. "There's still much work to be done, but we've already moved far beyond where we were this morning and where we were a week ago," the US Secretary of State added.

Rubio is asked about President Donald Trump's comments earlier that Ukraine is ungrateful for the US's support.

Rubio says he has spoken to Trump since he made those comments and that the president is now "quite pleased" about the progress the US delegation has made so far in the peace talks.

Tomorrow, the delegates in Geneva will keep working toward a peace plan, Rubio says.

The process to negotiate that plan has been ongoing the past three weeks, but has significantly sped up in the last 96 hours, he adds.

Rubio says he has not seen any European counter-proposal to the one being discussed the last few days.
