NATO exercises led by the Finnish Navy have begun in the Baltic, APA reports, citing Pravda.
The exercises will be held from November 24 to December 4.
The venues are the Gulf of Finland, the southern coast of Finland and the Archipelagic Sea.
They involve ships and personnel not only from Finland, but also from Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Belgium, France, Denmark, Poland, Germany, the Netherlands and the USA.
The 1st Permanent Mine Action Group of NATO is also involved in the maneuvers. In total, about 20 ships and 5,000 troops are involved.
It is reported that the tasks of protecting maritime communications, critical infrastructure and other defensive measures are being worked out.
