Georgian PM: Laws banning gender reassignment and same-sex marriage will not be repealed

In Georgia, no one will be able to officially change their gender at the Civil Registry Agency, said the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze, APA reports, citing Georgian media.

Kobakhidze voiced these remarks while commenting on Brussels' recommendations, including the legislative package on “Family Values and Protection of Minors” and the draft law on “Transparency of Foreign Influence.”

“I promise you: if a person is a woman, she cannot be a man. And vice versa. This is my promise,” said the Prime Minister. Kobakhidze and emphasized that despite pressure from Brussels, Georgia will not adopt any decision regarding the legalization of same-sex marriages or gender change, and there are no plans to amend existing laws.
