Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze believes that the recall of German Ambassador Peter Fischer is a very correct and pragmatic decision of the German government, APA's local bureau reports.
Kobakhidze said in a statement to journalists that the ambassador has seriously damaged Georgian-German relations.
"Previous German ambassadors have made positive contributions to the development of relations. Ambassador Fischer has almost destroyed the relations established by his predecessors over 30 years. However, these relations will soon be restored. As cooperation, partnership, and friendship between Georgia and Germany have very ancient traditions," the Prime Minister said.
Kobakhidze added that after Germany appoints a new ambassador, the Georgian government will be open to cooperation with him.
Germany recalled its ambassador to Georgia, Peter Fischer, on October 19 for consultations. P. Fischer has been serving as ambassador since August 2022.
