The German ambassador did not condemn the attack on the Georgian presidential palace, but expressed support for extremists by participating in the protest in Tbilisi the other day, said Speaker of the Georgian Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili, APA's local bureau reports.
He noted that consultations were held between the German and Georgian Foreign Ministries regarding Ambassador Peter Fischer.
"During the consultations, the German side stated that the ambassador would refrain from such actions as he had previously committed. I am currently waiting to see what steps the German Foreign Ministry will take. The Foreign Ministry must provide explanations," Papuashvili added.
The speaker called the ambassador's photo-taking with Mamuka Tsutskiridze, who cursed the Georgian church at the protest, an insult to the Georgian state and society.
Note that Germany recalled its ambassador to Georgia for consultations on October 19 of this year. The ambassador returned to Tbilisi on November 6. The Georgian government accuses the diplomat of promoting a radical agenda in the country and seriously damaging relations with Germany.
