The College of Commissioners has approved a new package of proposals aimed at enhancing military mobility within the European Union and ensuring the rapid, unhindered movement of troops and equipment, APA reports, citing Evropeyskaya Pravda.

The proposals were presented by the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas. The key objective of the initiative is to establish a “military Schengen” area covering all of Europe by 2027, enabling faster, safer and more coordinated movement of armed forces and military hardware across the continent.

“I would like to begin with Monday’s attack on the Polish railway. This incident shows that Europe’s transport infrastructure is facing an unprecedented level of risk. Russia’s attacks are becoming increasingly bold. Our critical infrastructure needs stronger protection,” Kallas stressed.

She added that the rapid movement of European military forces is vital for the continent’s defence.
