The European Union has expressed full support for Poland following what it described as the most serious violation of European airspace by Russia since the war in Ukraine began, APA reports.

EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission, Kaja Kallas, said indications suggest the breach was intentional.

“I am in contact with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte and Polish Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Radek Sikorski,” Kallas wrote on X. “The EU stands in full solidarity with Poland. Russia’s war is escalating, not ending.”

She added that the EU must increase pressure on Moscow, strengthen support for Ukraine, and invest in European defense. Kallas highlighted support for initiatives such as the Eastern Border Shield defense line as part of these efforts.
