Baku. Nijat Mustafayev, Shamil Alibayli – APA-Economics. The issue on construction of oil refinery in Kyrgyzstan by Azerbaijan has not excluded from the agenda, Kyrgyz Deputy Prime Minister Djoomart Otorbayev said, APA-Economics reports.

To him, at present time Chinese side is building huge oil refinery in Kara-Balta city of Kyrgyzstan: ‘A question appears here – is it profitable to construct 2 oil refineries at the same time? Maybe, yes. I hope that this issue will be solved and we will gain appropriate result’.

According to SOCAR, currently talks are underway with the Kyrgyz side.

In early September, the head of the Kyrgyz presidency's foreign policy department Sapar Isakov noted that Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan would conduct trilateral talks on construction of oil refinery. To him, Kyrgyzstan joins this project as a source of crude oil: ‘Besides, Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan have joint operations. The issue on construction of the abovementioned plant will be solved soon after the signing of agreement by Kyrgyz side’.

Note that in August 2012, SOCAR President Rovnag Abdullayev received Kyrgyzstan’s former Minister of Industry and Energy Askarbek Shadiyev. One of the issues that were discussed during that meeting was the issue on construction of oil refinery in Kyrgyzstan.
