During January-April of this year, 11,177 mln. cubic meters of gas was transported by trunk gas pipelines in Azerbaijan, and the 13.1% growth was observed as compared with the relevant period of the previous year, the State Statistics Committee told "APA-Economics.
Some 35.5% of gas transportation was implemented via the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum Southern Caucasus pipeline and 3,969 mln. cubic meters of gas were transported (16.8% growth compared with January-April of last year).
The Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum gas pipeline has been constructed for transportation to Georgia and Turkey of the gas extracted from the Shah Deniz field situated in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea. The length of the pipeline is 980 km, while its diameter is 42 inches.
The first exported gas was pumped in the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum gas pipeline in March of 2007. This pipeline has a total of 4 gas handover stations including 1 in Azerbaijan and 3 in Georgia.
