Baku. Ali Ahmadov - APA-Economics. Extraction capacity of Nabucco project can be increased up to 23 bcm in future, Nabucco Gas Pipeline International GmbH spokesman Christian Dolezal said, APA reports.

To him, sources of the project include gas from fields except Shah Deniz, as well as Northern Iraq and Turkmenistan.

Dolezal noted that recently, launching of the second pipe of North Stream project from Russia to Europe has not impacted on actuality of Nabucco and this project still assumes great importance for Europe: ‘As Europe’s gas market is big enough and it will rise more in future, as well as the extraction has decreased inside Europe, there is great need for diversification of gas sources’.

Note that, Nabucco gas pipeline project has been considered for exportation of gas through Azerbaijan, Georgia, Turkey, Bulgaria, Hungary, Romania and Austria to the Central Europe. OMV (Austria), MOL (Hungary), Transgas (Romania), Bulgargas (Bulgaria), BOTAS (Turkey) and RWE (Germany) have joined Nabucco Gas Pipeline International GmbH consortium established for this purpose.
