Former Soviet Union countries’ total debt Gazprom hits historical record

Baku – APA-Economics. Former Soviet Union countries’ total debt to Russia’s Gazprom company has hit the historical record, APA reports quoting Vedomosti.

Last year’s total debt of neighboring countries to Gazprom soared 36 percent to 205.6 billion rubles (6.4 billion dollars).

During the reporting period, Gazprom has exported $21 bn-gas to these countries, and that means, the debt makes 30% of the amount.

Last year, the main consumer of Russian gas was Ukraine - $12.4 billion. Country’s debt amounted to about 18 percent of the annual supply exceeding the previous record 20 percent. Debt of Belarus, which bought fuel at amount of $ 5.2 billion, rose, reaching 18 percent of the annual supply against 12 the previous year. One of the worst defaulters was Moldova, which debts for gas hit $3 bn.
