Baku. Nijat Mustafayev – APA-Economics. New pipeline to be constructed for gas transportation from Azerbaijan to Turkey within the Shahdeniz-2 project will have at least 16 billion cubic meters of capacity per year, head of the investment department of State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) Vagif Aliyev said.

He said there were two options for transportation of Azerbaijani gas to Turkey – construction of new pipeline and extension of current infrastructure. “Several companies from Shahdeniz consortium can join the construction of new pipeline, which will depend on the technical-economic substantiation. The new pipeline is expected to have at last 16 bln c/m capacity per year”.

Aliyev said the new pipeline is not against other projects for transportation of Azeri gas to Europe.

The pipeline will be constructed from Turkey’s eastern borders with Georgia to its borders with Bulgaria and Greece.
