President Ilham Aliyev: â€œDiscovery of new gas field will strengthen Azerbaijanâ€™s position among the world biggest gas producing countriesâ€

Baku â€“ APA-Economics. On September 9, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev received the delegation led by Michael Borrell, Total’s Senior Vice President, APA reports citing AzTV. President Aliyev called the discovery of big gas field in the Azerbaijni sector of the Caspian Sea a significant event in life of our country. Te head of state noted that the discovery of new gas field would strengthen Azerbaijanâ€™s position among the world biggest gas producing countries. The president said that this significant event was the next visual evidence of proved oil and gas potential of Azerbaijan so far.

â€œFrench TOTAL company has successfully operated in several projects in Azerbaijan and the discovery of new gas filed is great achievement. I will continue expedient and consistent policy for successful elongation of oil-gas strategyâ€, Aliyev said.

In turn, Borrell said the discovery of a big gas field was an important event. He noted that TOTAL company successfully cooperated with SOCAR. Borrell gave detailed information about the implemented works in Absheron deposit, expressed hope that the cooperation with Azerbaijan would be enhanced and strengthened after it too.

SOCAR 1st vice-president Khoshbakht Yusifzadeh spoke about technical economic indicators of new gas field and the works to be carried out in the near future.

On the occasion of this discovery, President Aliyev congratulated Azerbaijani nation, persons, who participated in the realization of this project and wished new successes. The head of state noted that discovery of new gas field would strengthen Azerbaijanâ€™s position in the region and in the world, exert important influence on improvement of material welfare of the nation. Thereafter, the President made a statement press in connection with the discovery of new gas field.

â€œThe discovery of new gas field in Absheron deposit shows the successful continuation of new oil strategy of Heydar Aliyev and that Azerbaijan is strengthening as oil-gas country day-by-day. Azerbaijan also contributes to regional cooperation, plays an important role in energy security of Europe. During recent years, as a result of the expedient and balanced state policy, Azerbaijan became one of the fast-moving countries of the world. Growing interest of foreign companies in our republic is a logical result of available and reliable investment atmosphere in our country. Azerbaijan is interested in strengthening of socio-economic development and increasing efforts on the way to international communityâ€, said the President.
