Russia wants oil transportation contract with Azerbaijan to be reconsidered

According to newspaper, Azerbaijani side was offered to reduce the quota of transported oil via Baku-Novorossiysk pipeline by 30-35%. According to contract signed between Azerbaijan and Russia in 1996, Azerbaijan must 5 mln tons of oil via this pipeline: â€œBut, itâ€™s not fulfilled. The transported oil via this pipeline made 2.2 mln tons in 2010, 2.5 mln tons in 2009. Nevertheless, transportation capacity f pipeline is 7 mln tonsâ€.

Company claims that, not exploitation of pipeline in full capacity damages Transneft. Newspaper says Azerbaijani side is ready to reduce the quote, but it required to decrease the transportation tariffs. Russia is not satisfied with this.
