DEPA company: ITGI project is the best route for transportation of Azerbaijani gas to Europe

Baku. Ali Ahmadov - APA-Economics. ITGI project is the most advantageous and strategic route for transportation of Azerbaijani gas to Europe, which extends from Greece to Italy, executive director of Greek DEPA company Harry Sachinis said at todayâ€™s press conference.

To him, ITGI meets the interests of Azerbaijan and is ready for exploitation: â€œBy taking negligible measures, it is possible to reach the capacity of project 24 bn cubic meters. It is possible to raise the capacity of pipeline between Greece and Italy from 12 bn cubic meters up to 16 bn cubic meters. In parallel, it is possible to reach the capacity of gas pipe between Greece and Bulgaria from 3 bn cubic meters to 5 bn cubic meters. We can complete these works by the end of 2014. That is, when the 2nd phase of Shahdaniz project ends, there will exist a pipeline which will transport this gas to Europeâ€.

CEO of DEPA H. Sachinis noted that, ITGI would transport all gas of ShahDaniz and other pipelines, as well Nabucco must be launched when other resources to be added to Caspian gas for transportation of gas: â€œITGI is the most proxy pipeline from the standpoint of safety for gas transportationâ€.

He noted that, this pipeline may be easily merged with current and future gas systems, thatâ€™s why, itâ€™s possible to transport the gas to any country via this pipeline: â€œTransportation of gas via this pipeline can change Azerbaijan to important player of European gas marketâ€.
