Azerbaijan increases oil transportation by 2.5 times, natural gas - by 2.3 times over the past 5 years

SSC says if in 2006, only 19.947 mln tons of oil was transported via main pipelines in Azerbaijan, this indicator rose 2.5 times to 49.982 mln in 2010.

The highest indicator was recorded in 2009 during the reported period. 50.480 mln tons of oil was transported in 2009. Main part of the transportation was realized via Baku-Tbilisi-Jeyhan (BTC) oil pipeline. In general, 145 mln tons of oil was transported via this pipeline since 2006.

As to main gas pipelines, 50.3363 mln tons of gas was transported via main gas pipelines during the same period. If in 2006, only 7.479 mln tons of gas was transported, this indicator rose 67% to 11.635 mln tons in 2010.

In general, the volume of oil transportation through pipelines in Azerbaijan for the last 5 years amounted to 225.127 million tons in 2010, up 2.3 times in comparison with 2006 by 2.3 times.
