# 23 August 2007 15:13 (UTC +04:00)
Commander of the Russian Space Forces, Colonel General Vladimir Popovkin stated that the Space Troops is going to renounce the early warning systems outside Russia to end the dependence of country’s defense capability on foreign politicians. General Popovkin said Russia with good “eyes” and “ears” today is sure that neither missile warhead nor body will be thrown to its territory.
“Our early warning system has no “gap”. However, question arises regarding the stations outside our borders- Ukraine, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Belarus. The matter is it is possible to use these radar stations as a means of pressure against us in case of any conflict. For instance, these stations can be cut off electricity,” the General stressed.
Popovkin said in this case Russia’s defense opportunities become dependent on politicians of other states. So, Russian Space Troops is establishing radar system in Armavir city of Krasnodar province and plans to launch the station this year. /APA/
