Ali Hasanov: Statements on Azerbaijani media are subjective and does not reflect reality

Ali Hasanov said that freedom of speech and media is not restricted in Azerbaijan. He noted that there is also no problem for activity of media outlets and their registration.
“We never denied the existence of various problems concerning media. Media, government and society take joint steps to eliminate such problems. Azerbaijan is independent in electron press as well.6 republic wide TV channels, 16 regional Televisions, a lot of radio are aired, internet network, foreign radio broadcasts are also aired. The government does not possess the mechanism of censorship on media. International media institutions are provided with everything to get needed information. We take regular measures to make the situation better” Ali Hasanov said.

The state of media in OSCE area was debated in the US Congress Helsinki Commission. It was noted that electronic media is under control, 7 journalists were arrested and 20 seek for asylum, censorship was officially abolished and newspaper registration was simplified in the country. /APA/
