Seminar held for press secretaries and journalists in “NATO week”

One-day seminar was held for press secretaries of state bodies functioning in cooperation and journalists covering NATO-Azerbaijan cooperation in the framework of the Individual Partnership Action Plan (IPAP) with NATO within “NATO week” to be held in Azerbaijan today, APA reports.
Foreign Ministry, NATO and Euro-Atlantic Center Public Union have organized the seminar.
NATO senior officials, as well as representatives of Azerbaijani government bodies cooperating with NATO participated in the event.
Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry’s spokesman Khazar Ibrahim addressing the event gave information about the cooperation between Azerbaijan and NATO. Following this, expansion of NATO, measures taken on membership to this organization has been debated. It was underlined that NATO is pursuing South Caucasus as strategic region. The countries which want to become NATO member should fulfill several terms. The existence of democracy, market economics, close and good relations with neighboring countries, agreement of nation and political elite, insurance of civil control over army and coincidence of military strategy to NATO standards is important. /APA/
