NATO should take into account the security of energy projects implemented in the South Caucasus, Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry’s spokesman Khazar Ibrahim said, APA reports.
He said that NATO member-states are debating issues on energy security at present.
“Several member-states want the 5th paragraph of NATO statute to concern energy security. If this proposal is adopted, according to this article, energy threat in one of the NATO member-states should be regarded as threat to the whole alliance. Following this, Estonia proposes 5th article also to concern cyber attacks. Energy security has been included to the final document adopted in Riga summit of NATO. This is political decision of NATO. But practical measures have not yet been taken in this field. I regard that NATO’s strategy regarding it will be defined soon,†he said. /APA/
