YAP sends protest letter to Regnum agency
# 10 July 2007 17:09 (UTC +04:00)
The ruling Yeni Azerbaijan Party (YAP) sent a protest letter to Russian information agency Regnum for posting a special section on the website Nagorno Karabakh, the party’s press service told the APA. The letter says that the information agencies have to spread precise and unbiased reports, but unfortunately these important conditions are sometimes forgotten. Noting that Regnum is among the biased information agencies YAP states that posting a special section about Nagorno Karabakh on the website and giving broad information about the “presidential elections” in the so-called Nagorno Karabakh Republic demonstrates the agency’s biased position.
“No doubt that regnum Information Agency is aware of the truths of Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict. Leading international organizations – the UN, OSCE, Council of Europe, Organization of Islamic Conference and various countries condemned the “presidential elections” in the occupied Azerbaijani territories – Nagorno Karabakh. Azerbaijani people are deeply concerned that Regnum information agency spreads information about the “presidential elections” in the so-called Nagorno Karabakh Republic and propagandize these elections.
YAP condemns actions of Regnum agency of Russia, co-chairing country of OSCE Minsk Group and regards them as actions contradicting Russia-Azerbaijan strategic partnership,” the letter says.
Condemning pro-Armenian position of the agency the letter underlines that the activity of the agency contradicts exchange of information adopted by the international community. /APA/
