Azerbaijani rights defenders - Saida Gojamanli, Eldar Zeynalov, Sahib Mammadov, Elchin Behbudov, editor of Gundalik Azerbaijan newspaper Uzeyir Jafarov and Intigam Aliyev met Rene van der Linden, President of Parliamentary Assembly of Council of Europe (PACE) who is visiting Baku, Saida Gojamanli told the APA.
Socio-political condition in the country, condition of freedom of expression, human rights has been debated at the meeting.
“Seven journalists have been imprisoned in Azerbaijan, political prisoners have not yet been released, freedom of assembly remains a problem,†he said.
She said that PACE President expressed his regret for problems’ remaining unsolved yet. /APA/
