The US will continue to call on Qatar to play a constructive mediating role in reaching an agreement on a ceasefire and hostage exchange, said US Secretary of State Marco Rubio at a joint press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, APA reports.
Touching on the issue of recognizing the state of Palestine, Rubio called the decision of several countries to recognize Palestine symbolic and said that this action would further embolden Hamas.
Rubio also emphasized that these countries were warned in advance that Israel would take retaliatory measures.
Speaking about the death of social activist Charlie Kirk, Rubio assessed Kirk's murder as an attempt to threaten the political and social discourse in America and said that he considered Charlie's death as the death of a family member.
