The United Arab Emirates' (UAE) decision to leave OPEC and OPEC+ could lead to increased oil supply on the market and exacerbate the rift between Middle Eastern countries, APA reports citing newspaper La Repubblica.

The newspaper notes that the announcement of the withdrawal of one of the world's largest oil producers from the associations comes at a "dramatic moment" when the world is facing the worst energy crisis in decades.

At the same time, "there is a possibility of greater oil supply on the market in the medium term if Abu Dhabi decides to increase production without further restrictions," the publication writes. It also notes that recent events in the region, including today's move by the UAE, are deepening the rift between Middle Eastern countries and undermining its stability.

The publication believes that the UAE's decision was a response to new conditions in the global energy market, where turmoil caused by the US and Israel's war against Iran is leading individual Gulf countries to decide to act autonomously.
