Türkiye labels reports about flags being lowered in Azerbaijan on Israel-Hamas war anniversary as fake

Posts circulating on some social media accounts claiming that flags in Azerbaijan were lowered to half-mast on October 7, the anniversary of the Israel–Hamas war, are false and misleading, APA reports, citing the Türkiye Disinformation Combat Center.

The statement noted that the aim of such disinformation is to portray Azerbaijan as anti-Palestinian, mislead public opinion, damage Türkiye–Azerbaijan relations, and undermine the country’s reputation.

It was noted that such baseless claims are part of a planned propaganda campaign aimed at undermining solidarity within the Turkic-Islamic world and overshadowing the ongoing genocide against the Palestinian people.

The statement emphasized: “It is important not to believe information that has not been confirmed by official sources and for the public to pay attention only to statements made by reliable institutions.”
