Türkiye supports the preservation of a unified and independent state in Syria, said Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, APA’s Türkiye bureau reports.
He emphasized that the process is being conducted with great sensitivity in order to prevent new threats in Syria.
Erdoğan said that Ankara supports the protection of Syria’s territorial integrity and political unity, as well as the existence of a single Syrian state.
“Türkiye supports the struggle waged by the Syrian state and army to establish a unified and independent state in Syria where all ethnic groups and sects live side by side. At a time when no one was defending the rights of Kurds in Syria, it was Türkiye that raised and defended this issue. This matter has always been at the top of Ankara’s agenda. Türkiye has never approached this issue from the perspective of interests, but has always viewed it through a humanitarian approach and a sense of brotherhood,” the Turkish president added.
