Turkish president: Clearing Aleppo of YPG elements is a significant achievement

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has spoken about the developments in northern Syria, APA reports, citing Turkish media.

Erdoğan said that “the process must be managed with sensitivity.”

“The clearing of Aleppo of YPG elements is a significant achievement in terms of establishing lasting peace, stability, and security in Syria,” he said.

Erdoğan stated that all necessary measures are being taken to prevent any situation that could threaten Türkiye’s security. He added that despite the maximalist and irrational demands of the YPG/SDF, which he described as an extension of the PKK terrorist organization in Syria, the Syrian government is acting with an inclusive approach and that continuing this approach would be in the interest of the Syrian people.

The Turkish president also emphasized the importance of good neighborly relations:

“We cannot allow the brotherhood between Turks, Arabs, and Kurds to be undermined. We must manage the process sensitively and remain vigilant against provocations. We will live together in this region forever. We support the establishment of lasting peace throughout our region.”
