US President Donald Trump has told CNN Hamas faces “complete obliteration” if the group refuses to cede power and control of Gaza, amid ongoing efforts to push forward his proposed ceasefire plan, APA reports.
The TV channel has provided some information about what has happened in the last hours regarding the cessation of hostilities in Gaza.
• US President Donald Trump told CNN that Hamas would face “complete obliteration” if it refused to hand over power and control of Gaza. The statement came amid ongoing efforts to advance his proposed ceasefire plan.
• Hamas, Israeli and US delegations have left for Egypt to finalize an agreement based on Trump’s 20-point proposal.
• Trump said Israel had accepted the initial withdrawal line and that if Hamas approved it, the ceasefire would “go into effect immediately.”
• However, despite Trump’s claim that Israel had “temporarily stopped” its bombardment of the Gaza Strip, dozens of people were killed in Israeli attacks on Saturday, and at least 15 more were reported dead today, according to Gaza hospitals.
Note that Trump said he expects clarity “soon” on whether Hamas is truly committed to peace.
