The Syrian Interior Ministry reported the thwarting of a series of armed attacks planned by terrorists during the Christmas and New Year celebrations, APA reports.
"Special forces from the Internal Security Forces carried out an operation during which they managed to neutralize one of the gangs associated with the Saraya al-Jawwad underground terrorist network," the agency said in a statement posted on its Telegram channel. "The gang's members were planning to carry out attacks during the Christmas and New Year celebrations in Latakia province."
According to the statement, Syrian security forces surrounded the Duweir Baabda district, where the wanted militants were hiding. "After the criminals refused to surrender to the authorities, our forces stormed the building where they were hiding," the statement noted. "Three of them were killed, and one was captured."
