Iran is in no hurry to establish relations with Syria, the spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Esmail Baghaei, said during a briefing, APA reports.
"We believe that the severance of relations between two Islamic countries with a friendly past is not permanent. Iran considers itself a friend of the Syrian people. Our position is that the fate of Syria should be determined by taking into account the rights of all nations and classes living there," Baghaei said.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman stressed that friendship with Iran is for the benefit of the Syrian people and mutual trust is needed to establish interstate relations.
