Legal and administrative measures will be taken regarding the attack on the Turkish flag, APA’s Türkiye bureau reports,
The head of the Communications Directorate of the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye, Burhanettin Duran, issued a strong reaction to the attack on the Turkish flag by PKK supporters at the Nusaybin–Qamishli border.
Burhanettin Duran stated that it is clear that dark forces attempting to sabotage the goal of a terrorism-free Türkiye have once again taken action through this attack: “Every threat directed at the security of the Republic of Türkiye and every step taken against our sacred values will be responded to with determination.”
Duran also said that judicial and administrative procedures would be initiated in connection with the incident.
Note that earlier today, a group of individuals lowered the Turkish flag at the border in the Nusaybin district of Mardin province.
The DEM Party held its group meeting this week in the city of Nusaybin instead of at the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye. After the meeting, a group protesting the operations against the YPG in Syria marched toward the border carrying flags with images of PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan, lowered the Turkish flag at the Nusaybin–Qamishli (Syria) border line, and chanted slogans in support of the PKK terrorist organization.
Soldiers responsible for border security fired warning shots into the air to disperse the group and demanded that they leave the area.
It was reported that the group withdrew from the scene after the warning.
