There has been a change in the leadership of Türkiye's Presidency of Religious Affairs, APA reports.
By order of the President of Türkiye, Istanbul Provincial Mufti, Professor Safi Arpagus has been appointed to replace Ali Erbaş, who currently heads the Presidency.
Arpaguş began his academic career in 1992 as a research assistant at the Faculty of Theology. He completed his master's degree in 1994 and his PhD in 2001. In 2008, he became an associate professor, and in 2014, a full professor. That same year, he also served as the Vice Dean of Marmara University's Faculty of Theology.
Appointed as the Mufti of Istanbul by presidential order on October 15, 2021, Arpaguş has also worked as a faculty member and as the head of the Sufism Department.
