Iran developed a program to create a nuclear weapon with the aim of destroying Israel, said Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in his speech at the 80th session of the UN General Assembly, APA reports.
“Iran was rapidly developing large nuclear weapons and large ballistic missile programs. These were intended not only to destroy Israel, but also to threaten the United States and to blackmail peoples everywhere,” the Prime Minister said.
He said that a 12-day war against Iran will go down in military history: “As you have seen, pilots of Israel’s fighters, together with America’s B-2 bomber pilots, bombed Iran’s nuclear enrichment facilities. Our pilots neutralized Iran’s missile defense systems and took control of Tehran’s skies.”
Netanyahu thanked U.S. President Donald Trump for his bold and decisive action. He emphasized that Iran developed a program to create a nuclear weapon to destroy Israel: “Last year, I stood in this place and showed this map. This map shows the curse of Iran’s ‘arrow of terror.’ This arrow threatened the peace of the whole world. It threatened the stability of our region and even the existence of my country, Israel. Iran developed a program to create a nuclear weapon with the aim of destroying Israel.”
Netanyahu emphasized that UN Security Council sanctions against Iran must be restored: “We must remain vigilant. We must not allow Iran to rebuild its military nuclear capability and its stocks of enriched uranium. Those stocks must be removed and tomorrow the UN Security Council’s sanctions against Iran must be reinstated.”
According to Netanyahu, “The patient Iranian people will regain freedom. They will make Iran great again.”
He added that the two ancient peoples – the Israelis and the Iranians – will restore a friendship that benefits the entire world.
