Iran has vowed to respond if attacked by the United States, a warning that comes as protesters continue to take to the streets despite government crackdowns.

APA reports that medical staff at two hospitals who spoke to the BBC said that more than 100 bodies have been brought to the hospitals in the last two days.

According to reports, the protests have now spread to more than 100 cities and towns across all provinces of Iran.

Iran's prosecutor general has said that anyone who protests will be considered an "enemy of God," a crime punishable by death.

The report also notes that the death toll and injuries continue to rise as the protests intensify. Two human rights organizations say more than 100 people have been killed, including security personnel.

Several hospital staff told the BBC that hospitals were overwhelmed by the number of injured and dead.

International media outlets are unable to report directly from Iran. However, some videos have been released and media representatives have been able to speak to several people in Iran.

There are reports of clashes between protesters and security forces in Mashhad, Iran's second largest city.
