India, which imports about 90% of its oil needs, wants to replace cheap Russian oil with equally cheap Iranian oil, APA reports, citing Bloomberg.
Indian officials have once again told the Donald Trump administration that a significant reduction in Russian oil imports is possible only if it is allowed to buy oil from Iran or Venezuela.
An Indian delegation visiting the United States this week reiterated this demand in meetings with American officials. According to sources familiar with the matter, the Indian side said that stopping oil imports from Russia, Iran and Venezuela at the same time could lead to an increase in global oil prices.
