Israel’s security cabinet is set to hold a meeting today to discuss the possible reopening of the Rafah border crossing between Gaza and Egypt in the near future, APA reports, citing The Times of Israel.
The issue has gained renewed urgency amid international efforts, particularly pressure from the United States.
It is noted that the United States and other mediators consider the reopening of the crossing a crucial step for advancing the second phase of the peace agreement. However, a number of Israeli officials remain opposed to reopening the crossing until the body of the last hostage, Ran Qvili, is returned.
