The Global Sumud Flotilla's Türkiye delegation announced on Thursday that Israeli authorities have illegally detained 48 Turkish activists during an attack on the fleet, which was carrying humanitarian aid to Gaza, APA reports citing Turkish media.

The activists were taken to the Port of Ashdod, the delegation added.  

Türkiye continues diplomatic efforts

Turkish officials are closely monitoring the condition of their citizens aboard the seized vessels.

According to Turkish diplomatic sources, the Turkish Embassy in Tel Aviv has taken the necessary steps to provide consular protection for the detained citizens, adding that the families of those aboard are being kept informed about the situation.

Israeli military forces have seized 13 ships of the Sumud Navy, which were carrying humanitarian aid for Palestinians to the coast of the Gaza Strip, the information committee of the international mission said, APA reports.

According to the information published by Al Mayadeen TV channel, citing the committee, the Israeli military is using force against the ships, deliberately causing collisions, using water cannons, and mistreating detained activists.

It should be noted that it was previously reported that four ships had been seized and 70 activists had been detained.

The Turkish representation of the navy also issued a written statement regarding Israel's attack on the ships.

The staement said that a total of 15 ships were seized, and the number of
