An emergency meeting of members of the government’s economic team has been held at the Central Bank of Iran, APA reports, citing Iranian media.
The instruction to hold the meeting was given by President Masoud Pezeshkian.
The head of the bank’s public relations department, Mostafa Qomrivaefa, stated that the meeting is discussing the country’s currency, trade, economic, and social issues and is currently ongoing.
It should be noted that Iran’s national currency, the rial, continues to sharply depreciate against the US dollar.
In protest over the situation, business owners are holding a demonstration in the capital, Tehran.
