Russia and Ukraine purchase the components needed for drone production from the same manufacturers in China, APA reports, citing an investigative article by the Financial Times.
According to the report, both Russia and Ukraine are rapidly expanding their drone production capabilities and mainly use components manufactured in China. The main reason is that Chinese components are approximately three times cheaper than their Western equivalents. As a result, the sides often purchase processors, cameras, and engines from the same Chinese suppliers.
Aleksandr Yakovenko, founder of TAF Industries, one of Ukraine’s largest drone manufacturers, told the publication that during his numerous visits to Chinese factories, he observed that plant managers planned his arrival and departure times down to the minute and even the second.
According to him, in some cases, factory management asked him to wait nearby for a while, guiding him through side entrances, service corridors, or empty conference halls. The Financial Times writes that these measures are intended to prevent Ukrainian and Russian representatives from encountering each other in the same location.
