Azerbaijan extradites internationally wanted person to Türkiye

An internationally wanted Turkish citizen has been handed over to his country, Azerbaijan's General Prosecutor's Office has released information, APA reports.

According to the General Prosecutor's Office, Turkish citizen Fayik Karaçol was accused of committing the act of intentional murder in that country and has been put on the international wanted list since 2022.

That person was identified in our country in July of this year, and preventive measures were taken against him.

The petition of the competent authorities of Türkiye regarding the extradition of Fayik Karaçol was sent to the Baku Court of Serious Crimes for consideration through the General Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Azerbaijan. On September 19 of this year, according to the European Convention "On Extradition" dated December 13, 1957, the court accepted the petition and decided to extradite the accused.

On November 3, the accused was handed over to the competent authorities of Türkiye, accompanied by a special convoy of the Penitentiary Service of the Ministry of Justice.
