Türkiye’s ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) spokesperson Ömer Çelik has confirmed the authenticity of social media footage showing a convoy belonging to the Turkish Armed Forces entering Syria, APA’s Türkiye bureau reports.
Çelik stated that there is nothing unusual in the footage and that this movement is part of an existing agreement between Türkiye and the Syrian government:
“The footage circulating about the convoys is accurate, and there is nothing extraordinary about it. Our units that have served in the region for a long time are being replaced with new ones. This does not indicate any extraordinary situation. The Turkish Armed Forces continue to maintain their position there within the framework of the existing agreement between the two countries. The activities currently being carried out involve sending new units to replace those that have served for a long time—that is, a rotation,” Ömer Çelik said.
