“Article 3, Clause 5 of the Law on "Azerbaijani Citizenship" contains a sentence that all concessions in connection with internally displaced persons also apply to refugees expelled from Western Azerbaijan. So, it turns out that another case is also intended,” said Aziz Alakbarli, Member of the Parliament of the Republic of Azerbaijan, at the Labour and Social Policy Committee’s meeting held today.
MP underscored that if there is another case, that sentence is not correct. “I ask that attention be paid to this issue.”
Musa Guliyev, the Chair of the Labour and Social Policy Committee noted that “Law on IDP and Refugee Status” should be completely revised: “We should take into consideration the issue of refugees from the Western Azerbaijan. Taking into account the new realities, it would be a good initiative to revise this law. We can discuss this issue with relevant bodies.”
