Azerbaijani FM, Palestinian PM discuss situation in Gaza

Jeyhun Bayramov, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, held a telephone conversation with Mohammed Mustafa, Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the State of Palestine, APA reports.

During the telephone conversation, the parties discussed matters concerning bilateral and multilateral cooperation between Azerbaijan and Palestine, with a focus on the situation in Gaza.

Minister Bayramov congratulated Palestinian PM Mohammed Mustafa on his appointment to this significant position. The Prime Minister, in turn, sincerely congratulated Azerbaijan on assuming the chairmanship of the 29th Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.

The sides lauded the comprehensive bilateral and multilateral cooperation agenda spanning politics, economy, culture, humanitarian affairs, and other sectors between the two states. They also acknowledged mutual support within regional and international organizations.

FM Bayramov reiterated Azerbaijan’s steadfast support for the "two-state solution" to the Palestinian issue, aligning with international legal norms and relevant resolutions of the UN Security Council. He highlighted Azerbaijan’s efforts at the national level, including during its chairmanship of the Non-Aligned Movement, aimed at addressing the conflict’s consequences.

PM Mohammed Mustafa expressed appreciation for the Republic of Azerbaijan's assistance to Palestine, amounting to $2 million through the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), as well as the availability of training programs for Palestinian students and diplomats.

During the conversation, the two also exchanged views on other bilateral and regional issues of mutual interest.
