Azerbaijan to attend WOCCU next conference in Las-Vegas

Baku. Elnur Huseynguluyev â€“ APA-Economics. Azerbaijan Credit Unions Association (ACUA) will attend the next conference of World Council of Credit Unions (WOCCU) on July 14-17, in Las-Vegas (USA), chairman of ACUA Elchin Bagirov told APA.

According to him, the conference will focus on the results and achievements of 2009, membership-related and other issues.

Elchin Baghirov said he is not due to deliver a report at the conference while he made a speech in WOCCU conference in Barcelona last year.

Azerbaijan joined WOCCU in 2009.

WOCCU is the global trade association and development agency for credit unions. WOCCU promotes the sustainable development of credit unions and other financial cooperatives around the world to empower people through access to high quality and affordable financial services. WOCCU advocates on behalf of the global credit union system before international organizations and works with national governments to improve legislation and regulation. Its technical assistance programs introduce new tools and technologies to strengthen credit unionsâ€™ financial performance and increase their outreach. The membership due is $ 5000 for a year. Membership due was determined for Azerbaijan with preferential terms. Azerbaijan pays $500 for first year. At the next stages, it will be increased by $ 500 for year, to reach $ 5000.

WOCCU was established in 1971. The organization has more 49 000 members and 177 mln shareholders. Assets make $1.181 trillion.

ACUA has been in operation since 2003.
